A Christmas of Service: Dr. Cox Brings Compassion to Ecuador with OSSO

At Yavapai Foot & Ankle Center, compassionate care doesn’t stop at the doors of our Prescott office. This Christmas, our own Dr. Cox and his family are traveling to Cuenca, Ecuador to volunteer with OSSO—Orphanage Support Services Organization, a nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of children in orphanages.

The experience was a powerful reminder of why Dr. Cox chose medicine in the first place: to help people live healthier, happier lives through empathy, skill, and service.

Instead of spending the holiday season at home, the Cox family is spending their Christmas caring for children with diverse physical, emotional, and medical needs. They are assisting with daily routines, creating playful moments of connection, and supporting children with disabilities—many of whom require specialized physical care.

“Being there reminds me how meaningful attentive, personalized care truly is,” Dr. Cox shared of his previous experience going to Ecuador for OSSO in med school. “Every child deserved to feel safe, seen, and supported. That’s the same approach I bring back to my patients here at home.”
